!±8± Fast Facts About Swimming Pool Filters

Putting up a swimming pool requires various parts to complete its total system. Aside from pool pumps and water, pool filters should not be excluded in the list. In fact, filters are vital in the whole operation of the swimming pool. They are responsible in maintaining the cleanliness and clarity of the water. Such debris like sand, silt, and other sediments are inevitable to fall inside the pool. This article helps you to further understand the different pool filters used in a swimming pool. So if you are planning to build one, get an advanced knowledge about filters. They come in three forms:

Cartridge Filters

If you are familiar with the oil filter equipped in the car's engine, then its operation is almost similar to cartridge filters. This how cartridge filter works - a dirty water will pass through the filter material, the debris on the water will be left inside, and water goes back to the water. Among filters, this one is easy to use and designed for replacement every six months or more; while others may last for few weeks or so. These are easy to clean and can be reused for the next season.

Sand Filters

This filter is said to be the natural method of filtering the water. A dirty pool water will pass through the layers of sand, then impurities and sediments are left. The 'new' filtered water will come out clean and free clear to see. Sand filters require backwashing in order to remove the collected debris in the sand. Cleaning the sand filters are needed every couple of weeks for effective filtering of debris.

Diatomaceous Earth Filters

D.E. Filter is dubbed as the best pool water cleaner among all filters. This filter has tiny diatoms that filter out debris as small as 5 microns. Even the smallest dirt cannot escape from this filter. Just like sand filters, Diatomaceous Earth must also be backwashed especially when the pressure increases inside the filter. When the diatomaceous earth is washed away, it needs to be refilled with another earth through the skimmer.

With the help of pool filters, these unwanted elements will be collected and removed in the pool water.
